Evaluation of the effectiveness of negative pressure drainage bottles in burn treatment

VSD (Vacuum-Assisted Surgery) technology provides a clean, moist, and low-oxygen environment for the wound through efficient drainage, negative pressure, and closure, thereby promoting rapid wound healing, reducing the risk of infection, and alleviating patient suffering. This technology has been widely used in burn and orthopedic fields.

1. Reduced workload for medical staff: VSD reduces the workload of medical staff because it typically involves 5-7 days of negative pressure drainage without the need for dressing changes, thus reducing the workload caused by frequent dressing changes.

2. Improved wound healing efficiency: VSD technology has a significant effect on the healing of burn wounds. The effective repair rate of burn wounds in the experimental group was as high as 96.77%, significantly higher than the 77.41% in the control group. Regarding the complete wound healing time, the experimental group was (10.01±1.21) days, significantly shorter than the control group's (15.21±2.11) days.

3. Reduced incidence of adverse reactions: The incidence of adverse reactions in the experimental group using VSD technology was only 3.22%, significantly lower than the 19.35% in the control group.

4. Reduced patient pain: VSD technology can reduce patient pain. For example, in one study, the pain score (NRS score) of patients in the experimental group was (3.11±0.54) points, lower than the (4.21±0.39) points in the control group.

5. Reduced antibiotic usage: VSD technology can reduce the amount of antibiotics used, which is highly beneficial for wound healing. This reduces the potential side effects and costs associated with antibiotics.

6. Prevention of infection and complications: VSD technology thoroughly removes necrotic tissue and abnormal secretions from the wound, effectively reducing the incidence of infection. Furthermore, postoperative observation and timely management of the degree and nature of wound pain can effectively prevent complications.

7. Economic benefits: VSD technology can reduce treatment costs. For example, in one study, the treatment cost in the experimental group (0.76±0.14) yuan was lower than that in the control group (1.58±0.22) yuan.

In conclusion, the application of negative pressure drainage bottles in burn treatment has significant effects, improving wound healing efficiency, reducing the incidence of adverse reactions, alleviating patient pain, reducing antibiotic usage, preventing infection and complications, and lowering treatment costs. These advantages have led to the widespread application and acceptance of VSD technology in burn treatment.
